If you meet the below requirement and you apply to AAIP, it is likely that Alberta government will give you a chance to run the business you choose. If your business generates positive cash flow, you shall receive PR status smoothly.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an active business owner/manager ( i.e. you are a shareholder working in the business) or a 4 years of experience as a senior manager (i.e. you worked full time for a business but you are not shareholder) within the most recent 10 years.
- A minimum of high school diploma that meets Canada ECA standard.
- Minimum English proficiency CLB 4444.
- Minimum net worth CAD 300,000 (close to 7 million Taiwanese dollar, 1.6 Million Hong Kong dollars, 1.5 million Chinese Yuan Dollars).
- The Canadian business you manage will hire at least one full time Canadian worker receiving not less than minimum wage.

Three basic questions to ask when finding business

First, do you have the principal skill? If this business is a skill based like sushi restaurant, car repair, or barber shop, then you should have the same skill as a sushi chef, car technician and hairdresser. You shall not try to only rely on the worker you hire and you shall possess the ability to do all the work when facing labour shortage.

For example, since the investment amount required by AAIP is CAD 100,000, if CAD 100,000 is all budget you have, the purchase price you look for is better less than CAD 60,000.

In this case, I believe only experienced liquor store manager shall consider taking over this business as they might know how to change the situation and turn losses into profits.

Some crazy ideas of such reasons could be a haunted house or a horrible neighbor or gang member asking for protection fee or anything that has impacted the work environment so badly that the owner just wants to move out.

2. On the other hand, if this print shop indeed has reported payroll expense for at least 2 full time workers, to maintain the same level of net income, the buyer must be a diligent worker to master all the tips from the seller, which include continuous learning new technology trend and new needs of the customers so the existing market will not be easily replaced by emerging new technology that makes DIY printing more viable so the customers stop relying on print shop.
